Soluble in ethanol (1.4g/100ml).pH of aqueous solution is 8. Its fermentation resistanc eand sterilizability are weaker than those of benzoic acid. When pH is at 3.5, 0.05% solution can completely resist the growth of yeast. When pH is at 6.5, concentration above 2.5% is needed.
Uses:Preservative; biocide resisting agent.
